L. Rainey Gray specializes in advising the "bank" brokerage industry, particularly in the areas of broker dealer formation, operations, and regulatory compliance. His consulting engagements have included banks, thrifts and credit unions.
Mr. Gray has over 20 years experience in the securities business including positions as a broker (Edward Jones), a compliance officer (Edward Jones and The Boatmen’s National Bank of St. Louis) and the CEO of two bank securities programs (Boatmen’s Investment Services and AmeriStar Capital Markets). This juxtaposition of disciplines gives him an unusual perspective on the financial services business. Not only does he understand the demands on the broker to do the business, he also understands the equally important corporate need for doing the business right.
Rainey has been associated with DSG since 1998 through LR Gray, LLC, with consulting offices in Nashville and Miami. He is also CEO of 1st BridgeHouse Securities, an NASD member firm.
Mr. Gray served as a board member of the Bank Securities Association from 1992 to 1995, serving as its President in 1995. In 1994 he was a member of the NASD District Four Business Conduct Committee, and served as a member of the Board of Trustees for The University of the South (Sewanee) from 1988 to 1994. In addition to his professional responsibilities, he hosted a weekly radio show on KMOX in St. Louis discussing the economy and financial markets.
